California's own to Join Obama's Education Team
Thelma Melendez de Santa Ana (Supt in Pomona) accepted President Obama's offer to serve as Assistant Secretary of Ed under Arnie Duncan. She will be working in the office of elementary and secondary education. An author of numerous articles on her passion for teaching and learning, Dr. T. has proven to be a fantastic superintendent of urban schools. One of her duties at the state department will be to oversee all Title 1 programs. Her ardent belief that all kid's can succeed is an amazing ingredient for positive change. Each May the Governor releases a revised budget proposal based on the latest state of the economy. This year, the "May Revise" held until the results of the recent election were confirmed.
